Requirements for Microsoft 365
Review the following requirements before you back up Microsoft 365 data.
General requirements

You must install the relevant feature for Microsoft 365.

You must set up a local deduplication storage disk.
When you set up deduplication disk storage ensure that you consider Microsoft 365 data size requirements and other workload requirements.
It is recommended to set the Concurrent operations for a deduplication device to 8 or more. The setting helps to enhance performance of simultaneous runs for Microsoft 365 jobs.

You must have optimum internet bandwidth as tenant data is hosted in the cloud. Backup and restore requires download and upload of data over an internet connection.
Licensing requirements
Microsoft 365 supports the following Subscription-based licensing editions:

Instance-based metering - This edition includes the Microsoft 365 feature. It allows you to purchase licenses based on the number of data sources that are protected. An instance equals to 10 Microsoft 365 users.

Capacity-based metering - This edition includes the Microsoft 365 feature. It allows you to protect total number of front-end terabytes (FETB) of your data including Microsoft 365.
