Changing malware scan options

You can configure malware scan options in Backup Exec. The malware scan options are global options that can affect all Backup Exec malware scan jobs.
To change malware scan options
  1. Click the Backup Exec button, select Configuration and Settings, and then clickBackup Exec Settings.
  2. In the left pane, select Malware Scan.
  3. Complete the following options:
    Malware Scan Engine Name Select scan engine that you want to use to perform malware scan.
    The available options are:
    - MS Defender
    - Symantec Protection Engine (SPE)
    By default, the MS Defender will be used as the scan engine for malware scan. You may change it to Symantec Protection Engine (SPE).
    Allow the malware scan job to use the maximum percentage of available CPU Select the setting to use the maximum percentage of available CPU while running a malware scan job to work with other processes in Backup Exec.
    Note: The option to use maximum percentage of CPU is not available for Symantec Protection Engine(SPE), so this option is disabled.
    Number of parallel threads Select the number of streams you want to use for the malware scan jobs.
    The maximum number of streams cannot exceed 10.
  4. Click OK.
