Support for Microsoft 365 Backup Exec enables you to backup and restore Microsoft 365 data.
The following workloads are supported:
- Exchange Online
- OneDrive
Backup Exec Simple-Subscription Backup Exec has introduced Subscription-based licensing with the aim to simplify and consolidate all licenses into a single edition that includes all features and adds the new Microsoft 365 feature.
The subscription metering is instance-based. One instance is a virtual machine or physical machine or 10 Microsoft 365 users.
The following licenses are introduced:
- Backup Exec Simple Core Pack
- Backup Exec Simple Add On

64-bit SQL Express Database Backup Exec now uses a 64-bit SQL Express 2017 instance to host its database. It helps to get increased performance and make optimum usage of a 64-bit server.
Support for new cloud storage regions Backup Exec users benefit from cloud storage choices through support for the following cloud storage regions, enabling greater flexibility and economy\:
- Google: Santiago
- Amazon: Jakarta

Generic S3 cloud provider support with Backup Exec Cloud Deduplication Backup Exec supports cloud deduplication for the Generic S3 Cloud provider.
S3-Compatible Cloud Storage with V4 authentication Backup Exec now supports configuring of S3-compatible cloud storage with V4 authentication in Backup Exec. You can configure region information that enables storage to support V4 compatible cloud providers.
